Yeah, I played around with Photosynth after watching that demo. It is definitely something that will be great for “virtual field trips” if it ends up working like they say it will. I was thinking about letting my students play around with it but I don’t think the school computers could handle it (and I think there was a bit of a download?). Neat stuff.

Yeah, we excerpted a little of Han's talk last year. Not on account of content but because I start feeling guilty if the diversions last longer than five minutes. Personally, I'm more taken aback by Aguera's Photosynth demo. That thing's crazy.

If you haven’t yet, you might want to use the Microsoft Surface website for one of your show and tells. http://www.microsoft.com/surface

If you don’t like Microsoft, you could show the TedTalk given by Jeff Han. http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/65 (There are a lot of good TedTalks and they are all downloadable. There is an iTunes link somewhere in there too: http://www.ted.com/talks )

Preview them before you use them in the classroom though, because a few throw out a word or two that parents might complain about.

I save these tidbits as pick-me-ups for staff meetings. They far surpass the usual quasi-motivational drivel that usually passes for “inspirational.”

Plus, Iceland is on my Must-Visit list.
