I have heard this story a few times before and even heard about the aforementioned graph, but this is the first time I have actually seen it.

Seeing is believing, 15 points deviation, winning a lotto 6 times consecutively -- well said... but,... but you didn't give us the punch line.

And its the punch line that will keep the students spell-bound just a little while longer...

Kawanakee ( Montreal ) who is the jurisdiction that the game was played from ( not Costa Rica ), was forced to do a review of this particular licensee ( ha ha, as if they, the Kawanakee Indians really wanted to go thru this highly visible auditing process, right ? )

Anyway, they slapped absolute with a fine that ran into the millions ( peanuts at the time for absolute ). When you say 15 points deviation from the mean, thats kind of hard to understand, but when we see the graph and realize the absolute impossibility of the game play of that individual, then people voted with their money.

Money voted to the tune of nearly a hundred million or more, to simply walk away!

What a math class !

They were thrilled.

I know this because they were actually listening the entire time I talked about this :)

Thanks again!
